Fraud Control

The NNSWLHD Internal Audit Office is asking Executive, managers and staff to complete a survey about fraud control. This will help us to gage and measure the District's understanding of fraud and corruption prevention, monitoring and reporting practices. The results will help to improve our systems and processes and help to lower the District’s risks relating to fraud and corruption.

This short survey does not record your name or any personal details. Your answers are confidential. It will only take a few minutes to complete.

What is fraud?

Fraud is wrongful or criminal deception intended to result in financial or personal gain.

Examples of fraud relevant to NSW Health include (but are not limited to):

falsifying working papers and HR forms (e.g. timesheets)
fraud in hiring contractors or consultants (e.g. improper hiring practices, payments for unsatisfactory work)
financial fraud (e.g. stealing money, false transactions)
personnel fraud (e.g. paying incorrect salaries)
management fraud (e.g. manipulating figures in financial reports, ordering goods and services for personal use)
fraud involving assets or stores (e.g. stolen equipment, excessive personal use of office equipment, unauthorised use of cars)
information systems (e.g. unauthorised staff accessing systems, unauthorised release of usernames/passwords, expressing personal views through work accounts, installation of illegal software)
other (e.g. leaking information, manipulating information, false expense/travel claims, bribes accepted, fraudulent claim for worker's compensation, false performance appraisal, false qualifications stated, running a private business in work time or without permission).
